Walking Day is held in high esteem by the people of the Stretton Parish and surrounding areas. The historic background of walking days dates back to the early 1880′s.
Please come and join us in this wonderful traditional event for the local community. The procession will be led by the Mayor of Warrington and the Rev Elaine Chegwin Hall, accompanied by local Brownies, Cubs and Scouts, along with children, parents and staff from St Matthew’s School and Pre-School.
Schedule
- 11.00am – Church Service with the crowning of the Rose Queen
- 12.00pm – ‘Fancy Dress’ (optional) Walk of Witness with the Mayor & Brass Band*
- 1pm – 4pm – Summer Fayre at St Matthew’s School
Fayre Event Timings
- 1.15pm – Judging of the Fancy Dress competition (split in age categories)
- 2.30pm – Appleton Thorn School of Dance Display
- 3.30pm – Balloon Race & Raffle Draw.
* Please remember that in the interests of safety that we ask that there are no dogs (except guide dogs) or bikes on the walk.
