St Matthew’s Junior Church brought the ‘Go Kidz’ & ‘Joy’ Sunday School groups together this week for the first of 3 sessions focussing on music.
Music is a fantastic way to convey messages, express feelings and the style can either lift or switch off a group of people almost instantly.
During this & the next 2 sessions, Junior Church will be reviewing a number of songs, to discuss the children’s views & find out:
- What they each mean to the children
- How they make the children feel
- Which are their favourites
Todays list included, Our God Is A Great Big God, The Rainbow Song, Snails That Slide, God Your Good To Me, One Way Jesus, Father God I Wonder, Oh Happy Day & Shine Jesus Shine.
Here are some some comments we had from the children ranging in age from 3 to 11, along with a video clip of the song where available:
“‘The Rainbow Song”
- It tells us that God will never send a flood
- We are singing about Jesus
- I enjoy it because it makes me happy
“Snails That Slide” – which turned out to be one of the favourites
- It makes me think about all the creatures that God made
- It makes me feel happy
- It reminds me about al of the animals
- I like the actions & jumping
“One Way Jesus”
- I like the colours
- I like clapping & doing the actions
- I think this song is good
By the end of the May, we hope to be able to let you all know which song is the children’s favourite.
We are delighted to be able to welcome children from as young as 2 1/2 to come and join in at a St Matthew’s Stretton, Junior Church Sunday morning session. If you would like to come along you just need to check the calendar for the next date & then turn up !
